THE DOCTORS

DR. GAYLE BLOCK

Dr. Block is the practice owner, having opened Town and Country in 1992, with Dr. Maxine Borghesi. Owning her own practice was an early dream of Dr. Block’s, which she achieved through her determination and a passion for helping animals. A very hands-on practice owner, Dr. Block sees patients regularly throughout the week, and has a dedicated surgery day. She truly enjoys forming lasting relationships with her patients and clients.

One of Dr. Block’s passions has always been helping to reduce the pet overpopulation epidemic, and she has spearheaded several spay and neuter events. A graduate of Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Block is a current member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association. She was honored to be named the 2016 CVMA Veterinarian of the Year. In her time away from the office, she enjoys the outdoors, yoga and her family, which includes her husband and daughter, her dog Colby and two cats, Callie and Carson (and her granddog, Sailor). She is a long time resident of Tolland, CT.

DR. EMILY MELENDEZ

Dr. Melendez joined Town and Country in May 2018.  She graduated from Tufts University in 2015, and has been practicing in Connecticut since.   She grew up in Maine, and moved to Connecticut to attend Wesleyan University.   When she isn’t busy providing amazing veterinary care, she enjoys reading, spending time outdoors, and relaxing at home.   She shares her home with her husband, Aaron, and two tuxedo cats, Finn and Jake.

THE STAFF

CHRIS

Christine joined the Town & Country team in June of 2018.  She has a degree in Business Administration from Becker College and over seven years of veterinary management experience. Her lifelong love of all things animals and passion for operations management are a great fit for the role of Office Manager here. Christine regularly volunteers for animal rescue transports and at the Fidelco Guide dog foundation. When not working or volunteering she enjoys camping and spending time with friends and family. She and her husband are owned by a rescued Cattle Dog mix named Daisy, pictured here.

COURTNEY

Courtney is a Certified Veterinary Technologist who joined us in 2009. Courtney received her Bachelors degree in Animal Science from Mt. Ida College located in Newton, MA in May 2007. In June 2007, she obtained her certification. She shares her home with her cats, Merlin, Myrtle and Cupcake and her dog (who is smaller than her cats!), Monty.

ROBIN

Robin came to us in the fall of 2013 and is a full time veterinary technician. Robin has more than 13 years experience in the veterinary world, and is a great asset to our team. In her spare time, Robin enjoys listening to music, hiking with her dogs and watching the Red Sox. Pictured with her, are Manny (left) and Macy.

JACKIE

You’ll see Jackie in all areas of the hospital, from the front desk to exam rooms. Her cheery, upbeat personality can not be missed!Jackie has been working in the veterinary field for over 10 years, and we are lucky to have her as part of our team now. When she’s not at work, Jackie enjoys traveling, car shows and her kitties – Simon, Patrick, Madi, Butterscotch, Amelia and Marshmellow – she shares home with.

THERESA

Theresa joined Town and Country in September 2017.  She brings 18 years experience in the veterinary industry with her.   You’ll find Theresa greeting you at the front desk with a smile.  She spends her free time with her husband and son, three dogs and two cats.  She enjoys cross-stitching, walking and coloring.

MONIQUE

Monique (or Mo) joined Town and Country in 2018.  She’s had a passion for animals her whole life.  She has been in the veterinary industry for over 12 years.  She took a short break from working with animals to find that she missed it too much, and found her way to us!  She has four fur kids… two dogs, Tara and Hazy, and two cats, Rory and Finn.  When she isn’t working, she spends her time with her son and boyfriend, outdoors or enjoying fun things to do in the area.

COLBY

Colby graced the hall, waiting room and exam rooms at Town and Country for more than 15 years.  He had more friends (and more cookies) than most of us in our lifetime.  He was shy but would come around and would often go right into rooms with his mom (Dr. Block), especially if he particularly liked the patient she was seeing.  His distinguished gray face could not help but make you smile.   His spirit will always be present at Town and Country.
