Dr. Block is the practice owner, having opened Town and Country in 1992, with Dr. Maxine Borghesi. Owning her own practice was an early dream of Dr. Block’s, which she achieved through her determination and a passion for helping animals. A very hands-on practice owner, Dr. Block sees patients regularly throughout the week, and has a dedicated surgery day. She truly enjoys forming lasting relationships with her patients and clients.

One of Dr. Block’s passions has always been helping to reduce the pet overpopulation epidemic, and she has spearheaded several spay and neuter events. A graduate of Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Block is a current member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association. She was honored to be named the 2016 CVMA Veterinarian of the Year. In her time away from the office, she enjoys the outdoors, yoga and her family, which includes her husband and daughter, her dog Colby and two cats, Callie and Carson (and her granddog, Sailor).

Dr. DeRosa has been with Town and Country since 2008. She received her DVM degree from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2002, following a B.A. in biology from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. After graduating from Purdue, she worked at a small animal practice in northeastern Connecticut for three years, and then relocated to central Connecticut, where she worked for 3 years prior to joining Town & Country Veterinary Associates. Dr. DeRosa is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association. When she’s not working, she enjoys doting on her own pets, rooting for the Red Sox, playing tennis, hiking, gardening, and travel.

Jerry has been at Town and Country for …. a long time! He has been a technician along side Dr. Block for many, many years (since the beginning!). Some may also recognize him as the Vernon Animal Control Officer. In addition, Jerry is actively involved in wildlife rehabilitation. He is a true animal lover; has lots of pets at home – dogs, cats, turtles, chickens, a duck

Kelly joined the team in 2007, as an assistant and is now the office manager. She and her husband have a full house with four dogs, Myles, Bitt, Shammy and Diesel and a cat, Sprinkle.

Courtney is a Certified Veterinary Technologist who joined us in 2009. Courtney received her Bachelors degree in Animal Science from Mt. Ida College located in Newton, MA in May 2007. In June 2007, she obtained her certification. She shares her home with her cats, Merlin, Myrtle and Cupcake and her dog (who is smaller than her cats!), Monty.

Robin came to us in the fall of 2013 and is a full time veterinary technician. Robin has more than 13 years experience in the veterinary world, and is a great asset to our team. In her spare time, Robin enjoys listening to music, hiking with her dogs and watching the Red Sox. Pictured with her, are Manny (left) and Macy.

You’ll see Jackie in all areas of the hospital, from the front desk to exam rooms. Her cheery, upbeat personality can not be missed!Jackie has been working in the veterinary field for over 10 years, and we are lucky to have her as part of our team now. When she’s not at work, Jackie enjoys traveling, car shows and her kitties – Simon, Patrick, Madi, Butterscotch, Amelia and Marshmellow – she shares home with.

Colby is a black (and grey now!) lab mix. Most days, you’ll find him lounging in the hall by Dr. Block’s office, or creeping around the front desk waiting for the next cookie. He can be shy, but can easily be swayed with treats.
